The capabilities of Virginia Forge extend to heat treating
services. In-house heat treating gives VFC greater control
over the heat treating process and more flexibility in responding
to the individual delivery requirements of customers.
Guided by a computerized supervisory system, batches of forged
parts are moved automatically through integral-quench furnaces,
followed by tempering.
To minimize surface degradation, heat treating takes place
in an endothermic atmosphere. VFC's high-capacity furnaces
can accommodate up to 6,000 pounds per load.
